Completely Continuous Composition Operators

A composition operator Tbf = f o b is completely continuous on H1 if and only if \b\ < 1 a.e. If the adjoint operator Tg is completely continuous on VMOA , then 7¿ is completely continuous on Hl . Examples are given to show that the converse fails in general. Two results are given concerning the relationship between the complete continuity of an operator and of its adjoint in the presence of ce...

Universal Non-completely-continuous Operators

A bounded linear operator between Banach spaces is called completely continuous if it carries weakly convergent sequences into norm convergent sequences. Isolated is a universal operator for the class of non-completely-continuous operators from L1 into an arbitrary Banach space, namely, the operator from L1 into `∞ defined by T0(f) = Z rnf dμ n≥0 , where rn is the nth Rademacher function. It is...

Extended Limit Design Theorems for Continuous Media

Earlier results [1,2]2 on safe loads for a Prandtl-Reuss material subject to surface tractions or displacements which increase in ratio are here extended to any perfectly plastic material and any history of loading.

Generalized Continuous Frames for Operators

In this note, the notion of generalized continuous K- frame in a Hilbert space is defined. Examples have been given to exhibit the existence of generalized continuous $K$-frames. A necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a generalized continuous $K$-frame in terms of its frame operator is obtained and a characterization of a generalized continuous $K$-frame for $ mathcal{H} $ wi...

Representing Completely Continuous Operators through Weakly ∞-compact Operators

Let V,W∞, andW be operator ideals of completely continuous, weakly ∞-compact, and weakly compact operators, respectively. We prove that V =W∞ ◦W−1. As an immediate application, the recent result by Dowling, Freeman, Lennard, Odell, Randrianantoanina, and Turett follows: the weak Grothendieck compactness principle holds only in Schur spaces.
